We often think that planning means filling our day with things to do. But planning is something else entirely.
Planning means consciously choosing where to invest your energy and creating space for what truly nourishes, supports and benefits you.
Planning is about making clear decisions in advance, and this translates into well-being: reduced stress, greater consistency with long-term commitments, a higher likelihood of healthy behaviours, the creation of a sustainable routine, and measurable, lasting progress.
Planning means making time for yourself and protecting your personal space. When you don’t plan, you simply react — and life overwhelms you. When you plan, you act. You live with intention and make conscious choices.
Planning physical activity means deciding in advance when, how much and how to move, in a way that realistically fits your schedule. The goal is not to find the time, but to allocate it. If exercise doesn’t have a specific place in your day, it becomes the first thing to be dropped.
To integrate it sustainably:
1. Schedule your training at the same time slot each day → the brain recognises it as part of your routine, not an extra.
2. Keep your appointment at all costs → consistency has a greater impact than intensity.
3. Prepare everything you need in advance (outfit, water) → this reduces friction and indecision.
4. Link your workout to an existing habit (e.g. after breakfast / after work).
5. If you tend to procrastinate, choose a membership with fixed appointments rather than open access — this supports planning, consistency and, ultimately, results.
